Delta 1 Nikê Response
In 1875, a charter was granted to a group of women at Illinois Wesleyan College, in Bloomington Illinois. The chapter — initially named Illinois Alpha — became Delta Chapter when the Fraternity's naming system changed. Twenty years later, enrollment at Wesleyan was too low to sustain a chapter. Delta offered its charter to a group of women at the University of Illinois seeking affiliation with a national organization. In 1895, the charter was transferred to Illinois and Delta became the first women's fraternity on the Illinois campus.
