Chapter Beginnings
The Fraternity had already voted at 1893 and 1895 Conventions to establish a chapter at Barnard as soon as "conditions were favorable." A local group was installed as the Alpha Zeta Chapter in 1898. In the face of anti-fraternity sentiment, the chapter returned its charter in 1915.

From the very beginning, Theta alumnae have distinguished themselves in their careers and their volunteer endeavors. In fact, some are so well-known that they’re household names, and many have the distinction of being the first women in their professional fields.
