Chapter Beginnings

In the early 1900s, a local group at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee, persistently petitioned the Fraternity, and in 1904, Alpha Eta Chapter’s charter was granted — the first in the South and the first international group on the Vanderbilt campus. In 1962, Alpha Eta proudly accepted the very first Founders Award.

Notable Thetas

From the very beginning, Theta alumnae have distinguished themselves in their careers and their volunteer endeavors. In fact, some are so well-known that they’re household names, and many have the distinction of being the first women in their professional fields. The archives takes this opportunity to recognize some of our more notable sisters.
