Alpha Kappa Nikê Response
Alpha Kappa Chapter was established at Adelphi College in Brooklyn in 1907. An early member was respected faculty member, Annie Marion MacLean — a sociologist and advocate for women’s rights in the workplace. MacLean was the first woman to receive a Master of Philosophy degree and the second to receive a Ph.D. from the University of Chicago. In 1929 Adelphi moved to Garden City, Long Island. Alpha Kappa Chapter left the campus in 1951.
