Chapter Beginnings
Beta Delta Chapter at the University of Arizona was one of several western chapters installed in 1917. The university had been established in 1885 as the first university in the Arizona Territory. The initiation of women belonging to local group Gamma Phi Sigma added the state of Arizona to Theta's chapter roster.

From the very beginning, Theta alumnae have distinguished themselves in their careers and their volunteer endeavors. In fact, some are so well-known that they’re household names, and many have the distinction of being the first women in their professional fields.
