Gamma Theta Nikê Response
Although Carnegie Institute — now Carnegie Mellon University — had local sororities, it did not welcome national women's groups until the World War II years. Beta Tau Lambda, with a 23-year history on campus, petitioned Kappa Alpha Theta and was installed as Gamma Theta Chapter in 1944. Pittsburgh then became the second city to boast two active college chapters.
