Chapter Beginnings

The first women's fraternity came to Yale University in 1986 when Epsilon Tau was established. Being first was not easy. Charter members battled negative stereotypes held by many. But the Fairfield and New Haven alumnae were amazing, and the new members experienced the benefits of sisterhood — friendship and support. The chapter president confidently predicted the chapter would thrive, making way for generations of Yale women to come.

Notable Thetas

From the very beginning, Theta alumnae have distinguished themselves in their careers and their volunteer endeavors. In fact, some are so well-known that they’re household names, and many have the distinction of being the first women in their professional fields. The archives takes this opportunity to recognize some of our more notable sisters.
