Chapter Beginnings
Tau Chapter was established in 1887 at Northwestern University. Early chapter members worked at the University Settlement House in Chicago, helping European immigrants adjust to American culture and also helped welcome all women’s fraternity members attending the 1893 World’s Columbian Exposition in Chicago.
Notable Thetas
From the very beginning, Theta alumnae have distinguished themselves in their careers and their volunteer endeavors. In fact, some are so well-known that they’re household names, and many have the distinction of being the first women in their professional fields.
