Chapter Beginnings
Local Sigma Tau members in Durham, North Carolina, were granted a Kappa Alpha Theta charter in 1928, establishing Beta Rho Chapter. Beta Rho was the first Theta chapter in the state of North Carolina. The chapter was warmly welcomed by the many Theta alumnae from chapters across the country who were then living in the Raleigh and Durham communities.
Notable Thetas
From the very beginning, Theta alumnae have distinguished themselves in their careers and their volunteer endeavors. In fact, some are so well-known that they’re household names, and many have the distinction of being the first women in their professional fields.
