Chapter Beginnings
When Thetas gathered in Tuscaloosa in the mid-1950s to discuss expanding to the University of Alabama, Hannah Fitch Shaw’s granddaughter was a luncheon guest. When Delta Omicron Chapter became a reality in 1967, an Alabama professor presented a vintage 1896 badge to the chapter. It had belonged to his mother, a member of the Kappa Chapter at Kansas.

From the very beginning, Theta alumnae have distinguished themselves in their careers and their volunteer endeavors. In fact, some are so well-known that they’re household names, and many have the distinction of being the first women in their professional fields.
